O Lord, our God, what have You done
In telling Abraham to kill his son?
He split the wood and honed his knife.
Why should he take so precious a life?
For Isaac was the promised seed
In whom Your covenant would proceed.
You gave a ram instead to die
And blessed all nations through that child.
O Lord, our God, what have You done
In giving Jesus, Your only Son?
He healed the sick and brought us light.
Why should You take so precious a life?
For Jesus was the promised Seed
By Whom His people would be freed.
When we deserved to die you gave
Your Servant that we would be saved.
