HEAR JOHN THE BAPTIST CRY
Words by Mary Rose Jensen

Hear John the Baptist cry, “O, Israel, Israel, Israel,
Your King is near to you.
Come to the Jordon confessing your sins and repent, and repent,
And repent of the wrong you do.
Just being born of Abraham's kin
Won't take away the guilt of your sin.
Behold. Behold. Behold the Lamb of God.”

There in the wilderness John is the voice, is the voice, is the voice
Crying out, “Prepare the way.
He Who is coming is greater than I: He's the Lord, He's the Lord,
He's the Lord we must obey.
Baptizing not with water, but fire.
He is the One your hearts should desire.
Behold. Behold. Behold the Lamb of God.”

Now hear the gospel that John has proclaimed, has proclaimed, has proclaimed:
“Your King is near to you.
Jesus, the Son of God, shepherds his sheep and will save, and will save,
And will save us for He is true.
By tender mercy, God will forgive
Sins of His people so we can live.
Behold. Behold. Behold the Lamb of God.”
